Balance Software was created in May 1984 to address the needs of the then emerging "open systems" environment created with the advent of the personal computer, ........and the need for application software in this environment.

We initially focused on the Unix market:

Partly because of the void of good application software.

Partly because of Unix's increasing implementation.

Partly because of its stable networking capabilities.

Balance customers were networking with TCP/IP before the Internet was fully established!

As Windows products emerged in the late 80's, we incorporated this technology to provide windows based interfaces.

Our philosophy is still to adhere to open architecture, for both operating and networking systems. Thus Balance's products and expertise are independent of hardware,  as are Balance's customers.
